Role Purpose:

To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English and to support the wider aims of the British Council and its cultural relations mission. 


Main opportunities and challenges for this role:

The British Council Kuwait is looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable teachers to join us . You will be joining the organisation at an exciting time as we open new teaching centres and deliver teaching to a growing market.

We deliver classes to both adults and young learners across General English, Exams prep, Business courses, Literacy and more


Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:


  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning styles.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy.
  • Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards
  • Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning, and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team.
  • Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the areas of Child Protection, Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and Health and safety.


Role specific knowledge and experience:

Essential: First Degree (or equivalent); Cambridge CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL.

Desirable: CELTYL or TYLEC; DELTA or Dip TEFL/TESOL (Higher); MA TESOL (or equivalent)



Essential: High proficiency in English i.e. CEFR level of C2/ IELTS Band 8+ in each of 4 sections of the academic module

Desirable: proficient in online delivery using Zoom or similar platforms



Essential: Cambridge CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL certificate; Experience in teaching different age groups and levels.

Desirable:  2+ years of post-CELTA experience of teaching Arabic speaking learners of English
