Role Purpose

To support the Project Manager in the implementation, monitoring and delivery of a large-scale project component within the English for Education Systems (EES) and Schools Units of the British Council Colombia. The post holder is expected to align the planning and delivery to the project’s execution goals and to the British Council internal policies.


Main opportunities and challenges for this role

  • Compliance is one of the priorities of the British Council and this role brings the opportunity to understand procurement and compliance policies in the public sector.
  • Gain awareness on archiving and managing documents properly within rigorous policies.
  • Some weekend and evening work might be necessary depending on project’s deadlines.


Main accountabilities but not limited to the following

  • Supporting the implementation team on the design and follow up of timetables, charts, and monitoring tools for the successful and timely delivery of the project.
  • Supporting the creation and monitoring of service provision contracts, social security requirements, and procurement & contract forms for a team of external service providers including consultants and vendors.
  • Supporting the administrative and finance coordinator in the payment chain to suppliers – invoice collection and processing, and payment confirmation.
  • Securing the management of documents and files of the project and filing digital and physical copies of project documents.
  • Creating new vendors when necessary and following the British Council’s policies.
  • Managing databases, analysing data and complying with all data protection policies.
  • Requesting quotes from different suppliers and evaluating proposals through the corresponding matrix.
  • Ensuring the logistics and organization of events related to the obligations of the agreement.
  • Keeping file of attendance, registration, participation, and customer satisfaction surveys.


Requirements of the role

  • 3 years of proven experience in financial, administrative and/ or control management. 
  • 1 year of experience in the administration of contracts and suppliers.
  • University degree in economy, administration, accounting, engineering, math, finances, or related areas.
  • Ability to operate in Spanish and English (both written and spoken) at a business level. Non-native speakers of Spanish should demonstrate a CEFR C1 level and non-native speakers of English should demonstrate a CEFR A1 level.
