Role Purpose: This is a great opportunity to join the Chevening team. You will be a key member and manage a Programme Officer as part of a small and busy team. The team ensures that an excellent standard of service will be provided to fellows through the development and implementation of a robust framework for fellowship governance within the wider Chevening Programme. In addition to these tasks, the role also entails providing support and guidance to the international team for the marketing and future development of fellowships. You will work with the Senior Welfare and Immigration Officer to ensure timely provision of immigration guidance. You will be required to work closely with the Programme Managers on continual policy and procedural development, with a view to improving services and the efficiency of their delivery, as well as holding some financial responsibility for fellowship engagement within the broader Chevening budget. Accountabilities: You will manage the development, operation, and efficient administration of Chevening Fellowships and to act as the first point of contact for a range of stakeholders including the fellows themselves, universities, partner organisations, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Embassies and High Commissions overseas, as required, to ensure the smooth running of the programme. Along with this, you will manage the workload and monitor the performance of the Programme Officer - Fellowships to ensure that a consistently high level of service is provided to all fellows and UK universities to agreed timelines. You will manage fellowship budgets with authority to approve payments within spend and others on compassionate or exceptional bases. Design and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive fellow engagement strategy which includes: the running of the Annual Chevening Fellowships Dinner; inclusion in other Chevening events and networking opportunities throughout each fellowship; undertaking visits with the aim of enriching the fellow experience; and developing relations with universities and partners to increase the value and impact of the programme. Lead on the production and distribution of various fellowship marketing materials, working closely with the Strategic Communications Directorate. Lead on communications and negotiations with external colleagues within the FCDO Scholarships Unit, wider FCDO and with Embassies and High Commissions around the world.
