Role Context and Purpose: The Teaching Centre in Prague is well established and respected but is operating in a competitive market. The centre delivers around 13,000 class hours a year broadly divided between Young Learners and adults and a growing corporate market. While YL numbers are consistently growing, like elsewhere in Europe there is a challenge to maintain the adult student numbers. The centre is managed by an academic management team of 1 senior teacher and 2 coordinators and the post holder will report to one of these posts.

There is an established CPD programme which the post holder will be expected to take part in and contribute to. We work closely with the cluster teaching centres in Poland, Greece, Slovakia and Hungary.

As a Freelance Teacher you will support British Council’s global English strategy by

  • delivering teaching to the highest standards of ELT

Freelance teachers are central to the teaching mix and are expected to work professionally to deliver high quality classes and support the centre. Freelance teachers are required to have a Czech business licence and to invoice the British Council monthly for work done. Teachers are required to teach a variety of course types and age groups.

The centre can offer reliable, well-paid and varied freelance work plus excellent development opportunities through our active and funded external training and INSETT programmes. We are particularly interested in teachers who can teach young learners weekday afternoons and are available to teach on Saturday mornings.
